Miles always had command of his harmonic passages. Even from his younger raw form days and pre-lessons with Dizzy he understood how to make great note choices and not play "babbling" lines of nothingness.

Long Live Miles' music!

It's fascinating to hear the young, raw Miles playing with Charlie Parker. Though his style and sound are far from fully formed he has an intangible quality that is gripping and he is a perfect foil for Bird.

I have a post now about my evolving feelings about jazz trumpet.

I am headed to download some Miles Davis now. I can no longer do without it in my life. I am thinking back to all of the seemingly wasted hours at coffee shops with a cigarette when I WASN'T listening to Miles Davis. Thanks Sam.
